About Dance Yoga
Based on the teachings of Swastya Yoga (University of Yoga of Brazil), and inspired by the sensuality of Tango from the ballrooms of her native Buenos Aires, Carmen has created Dance Yoga as a joyful path to explore your hidden sensual energies as well as promoting health and well-being.
As a Tango Dancer and after 25 years of teaching Yoga, Carmen developed a joyful, and sensual dancing technique that combines the power of sound and music, mudras (postures of the hands), and dancing Yoga postures in a powerful, always evolving and changing personal experience.
Dance Yoga plays with every kind of music from New Age to Rock, from Tango to Classical, allowing expression of our innermost emotions. It is adaptable to every age and type of body, even those with special limitations and is especially beneficial for Tango Dancers.
Yoga does not involve an intellectual understanding but wisdom that pervades each cell of your body.
The cells of our bodies constantly revew themselves and the practice of Dance Yoga nurtures each new cell with new information of balance, health, and harmony to a point where it can even transform in time, our whole genetic patterns. The deeper the practice, the deeper the effects.
Carmen started her Yoga practice at the age of 16, when she met her first Yoga master with whom she maintained the most traditional one-to-one disciple/master relationship during 12 years.
This old traditional relationship, unusual nowadays, allows a much stronger and deeper transmission and conveyance of techniques. Taking into account that renewal of all the cells of the body takes a period of 6 years, the disciple just practices and learns during this period of time, and in the next six-year period the disciple learns to "transmit" this information, closely monitored by his/her master. Without this careful training, only empty techniques can be offered to unsuspecting students. Also, the energy emanated by the energetic body of an experienced teacher, transmits inner information directly to the energetic body of the student. For this reason a close relationship between master and disciple makes a remarkable difference in a teacher.
After this sound training and preparation, Carmen travelled to England, Scotland and Brazil, looking for old and almost-lost techniques, like the Tantric Overtone Chanting and the Swasthya Yoga. And as a result of all these years of research, "Dance Yoga" emerged, a method that integrates sound and meditation as a whole, in a never-boring sequence, helping students experience a deep physical and psychological effect.
During the last 20 years Carmen has been teaching in different fields. She works sometimes in close relationship with physcians and psychologists healing all kinds of physical and psychological diseases. Sometimes she introduces the practices of Yoga to the stressful business world. And recently, having become a tango dancer, she helps, heals and prepares the body of professional and amateur dancers for a better performance.
